Nam Tchun-Mo is a representative Post-Dansaekhwa artist who inherits the tradition of Dansaekhwa in the 1970s as well as expands his own world. His work methodically differs from that of other artists in the aspect that it is a relief painting or a ‘sculpture-painting.’ It deserves to be called one as it is created by the act of molding, wrapping a cloth around the ‘ㄷ’ shaped wooden frame, and has a certain pattern and structure. The vertical ridges of the work that are parallel to the frame of the canvas create shadow by protruding from the surface of the canvas.

Nam Tchun-Mo received Artist Award from the 10th Ha Jong Hyun Art Awards in 2010 and the 26th Kumbok Culture Award in 2012. His works are collected by following institutions: National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Kumho Museum, Busan Museum of Art, Seoul Museum of Art, LEEUM Samsung Art Museum and Sweden Korea Embassy. In present, he stays and works in both cities, Daegu and Köln.
